Caring Ministry has developed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church over the last several years as a caring team of people that have been trained as BeFrienders, Lay Ministers, Elders, or Parish Nurses and others that wish to reach out and share the Word of God with those in need of spiritual, physical or emotional care. Caring Ministers are not able to provide hands on care, but they are available to make visits to the home, nursing home, hospital or at church. At times they may also connect with people via phone calls, e-mails or letters. They are trained to listen and to pray with individuals, and often are able to suggest other resources from the church or community that may be available to help meet the needs of the concerned individual.
