Romans 10:14-16 “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

We want people to call on Jesus. We see it as the role of every Christian to share the love of Christ with those people God brings into his or her path. Individually each of us is a missionary and our mission field is wherever God places us—a school, a workplace, a neighborhood, a sidewalk, a backyard fence, a front porch. Those are the places we are and the places God uses us. Those are the places we can connect people to Jesus.

Corporately, we work to connect people to Jesus as well. All of our worship services are designed to connect people to Jesus. Our church activities–whether Bible studies, church campouts, card clubs, dinners, dinner theaters or anything else—are designed to be opportunities for people to connect with Jesus.

We see the neighborhood in which God has placed us to be a mission field. Therefore we invest in our neighborhood.

  • Every other Sunday our Lighthouse group is out in the neighborhood taking prayer requests and praying.
  • Four times a year we have neighborhood walks to pass out church information.
  • Every June we host an event during Columbia Heights Jamboree Days and participate in the parade.
  • Every August we host a neighborhood block party with food and entertainment.
  • Every Spring for the past 10 years we have put on a Spring musical and included community people in the cast.

All of these have one goal—to connect people to Jesus.
