All teen ministry activities at Saint Matthew are open to teens 7-12 grade.

the truth
Our teen programs at Saint Matthew go by the name the truth. While churches refer to their teen ministry programs by the name youth, we’ve decided to be different. We recognize that the term youth is used for many activities for people of all ages in the community, and wanted to be sure people would know who we are and what we are about.

the truth is a name that reflects the fact that God came into our world through Jesus to show us the truth - that while we do wrong things that separate us from God (sin), God still loves and forgives us.

Many people tell all kinds of lies about God - we see it as part of our responsibility to tell and show people the truth - that God loves and cares for them and wants to be in a relationship with them. That’s why we call ourselves the truth.

the truth Sunday Mornings
On Sunday mornings, teens meet for Bible study at the same time as the rest of the St. Matthew community - 9:30 to 10:30 am. We study a variety of topics which are chosen by the teens at the beginning of each school year. This year, we have studied about Eating Disorders, Death in the World, Dinosaurs, Aliens, and Ghosts. Each study, while focused on a topic, is based firmly on learning about what the Bible says about each topic and what our response as God’s people can be to those topics.

the truth Wednesday Evenings
We meet regularly on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 8:15 pm. Our activities are scheduled on a rotating basis and include small group Bible study, informal devotion and prayer times, local service projects, fun activities, gym nights, and more. While the we typically meet from 6:45 to 8:15 pm, we occasionally need to change our meeting time to fit with our activity.

Lighthouse LogoLighthouse
Lighthouse is our neighborhood caring and prayer ministry.  If you are a resident of the neighborhoods closest to Saint Matthew, you may have gotten a knock on your door some Sunday afternoon from some of our teens.  If you haven’t yet heard from us, we may be coming to your street soon.  If we do knock on your door or ring your doorbell, don’t worry - our purpose is not to get you to join Saint Matthew.  We simply want you to know that we care for you and if you have anything going on in your life, we’d like to offer a prayer on your behalf.  Don’t worry - we pray when we finish our walk - we won’t pray with you on your doorstep (unless you would like us to!).

If you are a teen or adult already involved with Saint Matthew and would like to join us, we meet every other Sunday from 12:15-2:30 pm.

Special Events
We occasionally hold special events that don’t happen on a Sunday or a Wednesday. More detail about these events can be found on the right, above the calendar. In addition, each summer, we journey somewhere. Last year, we traveled to El Paso, TX and the Ysleta Lutheran Mission to build a house for a family in Mexico and we just returned from Florida where our junior high participated in a servant event in Daytona Beach and our senior high attending the National Youth Gathering  in Orlando.

If you have questions about any of our teen ministry programs or events, email or call (763-788-9427) Jim Bargmann.
