We are in the beginning stages of forming a new young adult and college age community at Saint Matthew.  While we see young adult as more of an attitude or even a culture all it’s own, some are still looking for an age definition.  So the way we look at it is if you are 18-35 ish, you are welcome to be a part of this community - but those outside that range will never be excluded.  At this time, we have several opportunities for you to get involved in our new community - and to help shape what we will be in the near future.

Dwelling is the name we’ve given to an exciting, new, comprehensive young adult focused ministry at Saint Matthew.  Dwelling is worship.  Dwelling is service. Dwelling is learning and discussion. Dwelling is gathering around food and having fun. Dwelling is experiencing life with God – as he comes to live with us and we with Him.The central part of our new ministry will be a new, Sunday evening worship opportunity tailored more to the needs and desires of younger adults – specifically those who were once a part of a church and are no longer or those who have never been a part of a church but are interested in faith and Spirituality. In addition, participants will be challenged to put the message into practice with a very immediate, planned, local service project or related activity. Along with the central worship experience, Dwelling will include a time to gather after worship to further discuss the message of the service. The purpose of this time will not be to listen to more talking or teaching on the passage, but rather will focus on questions, ideas, and discussion.

Along with worship, service, and discussion, anyone who comes can expect good coffee, fun treats, and an occasional barbecue or dinner before worship.

While this new ministry is focused largely on those not already involved in a Christian community, those of you already involved in Saint Matthew are wanted. There are three things you can consider that would be a great help to this new and exciting project. First, come. Just your presence can be a ministry. Imagine how awkward it would be if you were a visitor to a new place and you were only one of a few people there. You can help this from happening by coming. Second, we can use volunteers in a number of areas. Contact Jim for more information. Lastly, please pray for this ministry – the leaders and all who will come to be a part of it. Now, with that out of the way – our schedule. Dwelling worship happens on Sunday evenings at 6:30 pm.

Sunday Lunch Gatherings
Our Sunday Lunch Gatherings happen occassionally on Sunday afternoons (watch the events calendar). We meet for lunch and fun conversation at Applebees near the corner of 694 and Central Avenue. If you plan to worship with us at Saint Matthew at the 10:45 am service, we will carpool to Applebees – otherwise, you can simply meet us there. Bring money for whatever you would like to eat or drink. Please join us – and feel free to invite anyone else!  All are welcome.

Holiday Dinners
Primarily for but not limited to college age young adults, we have scheduled a series of dinner get-togethers while college students are typically on break from school.  Although these dinners are not only for those who are in school, this scheduling allows them to attend and have time to get reaquainted with one another and with others they may not have met before.  See the Calendar at the right for more information on our next dinner.
In addition to the above activities and events, we are working on expanding and growing our young adult community and the activities they are involved in.  We would love to have you join us and be a part of this exciting new journey. If you have questions, please email or call (763-788-9427) Jim.
