At the core of being a disciple of Jesus is growth. We want to grow in love for God, in love for His Word, and in love for our neighbors. Our discipleship ministries are designed to help this happen.
Every year we follow a theme that includes daily Bible readings. These readings are followed by children, teens, and adults. This year’s theme is Connect.
There are three parts to our connecting:
We connect to God—Jesus says in John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
We Connect to God through:
- Word
- Worship
- Prayer
We connect to our Community—Jesus says in Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
We Connect to our Community through:
- Outreach
- Service
- Community partners
- Care for Creation
- Meeting Needs
- Hunger
- Loneliness
- Grief
- Poverty
- Justice
We connect to Each Other–1 Cor. 12:12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.
We Connect to Each other through:
- Fellowship
- Care
- Small Groups
We are starting the year with 20 weeks of praying for our city, using the booklet 5 Things To Pray for Your City, by Pete Nicholas and Helen Thorne. You can pick up a booklet and reading guide at the church office. (An electronic copy of the reading and praying guide can be found here.)
