Bill Hugo
Bill HugoPastor
I’ve been pastor of St. Matthew since 2003. Previously I served churches in Princeton, MN and North Canton, OH. I’m married to Brenda and have three boys, Christopher (Katie), Ben (Sydney) and Will, one grandson, Luke, and one granddaughter, Ruth.

Before becoming a pastor, I spent 10 years in the graphic arts industry. I enjoy fishing, kayaking, biking, hiking and tying trout flies.

My favorite Bible verse at the moment is Romans 12:2. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Drew Wagner
Drew WagnerCoordinator of Music and Office Manager
My name is Drew Wagner, and I have attended St. Matthew since 2009. I have served as lector, lay minister, and musician during my time here. I graduated from Fridley High School in 2018, and have some college background in theatre production and design. Before starting here, I was a general manager for a convenience store chain. Outside of work, I love to knit and crochet, and I work at a yarn shop in St. Louis Park part time on Sunday afternoons.

The bible verse I try to live by is John 13:33-35 33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

I was raised on a century+ farm near Fulda, MN, graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education/school music minor, and have taught around the U.S., with a smattering of other jobs in between teaching positions. I came on board as the part-time Children’s Ministries Coordinator at St. Matthew in 2006. I am married to Bill Hugo. We have three sons and our family is growing! Christopher, Katie, Luke, and Ruth; Ben and Sydney; and our youngest Will is in college. We also have a dog, Theo. I enjoy the 500 card game, board games, whatever Luke wants to do, watching Will’s sporting events, walking/hiking, leisurely bike riding, kayaking, reading books, and agate hunting/polishing.

One of my favorite Bible passages is my confirmation verse, Proverbs 30:5. “Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.”

Sarai has been attending St. Matthew since 2008 when she moved to Minnesota with her husband, Casey. They now have two wonderful kids, Ben and Patti, that are involved in the youth and children’s ministries at St. Matthew. When she isn’t working, Sarai likes reading, hiking, camping with the BSA Scouts, and photography.

Favorite verse: Philippians 4:6-7. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
